Workplace Charging Scheme: £500 per socket for your business
The Workplace Charging Scheme grant takes £500 off every charge point socket you install for staff and fleet vehicles, up to 40 sockets across your sites. We check you qualify, guide you through the voucher and deduct the grant before you approve the quote.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government grant from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles. It pays 75% of the cost of buying and installing EV chargers at a workplace, up to £500 per socket and 40 sockets per applicant, for staff and fleet charging. It is funded until 31 March 2027.
The grant is per socket, not per charger, so a dual-socket unit attracts twice the amount. It applies to the whole job: the units, the cabling and the installation. On a typical staff charging project it takes a third or more off the total cost.

Most organisations with their own parking qualify. The main test is that the chargers are for staff and fleet use, not the public.
You can claim if
- You are a registered business, charity, public sector organisation or small accommodation business
- The chargers are for staff or fleet vehicles at your premises
- You have dedicated off-street parking for the vehicles that will charge, and own the site or have the landowner’s permission
- You run your business from home, with the home as your primary workplace and the address listed with Companies House or on your business (non-domestic) rates bill
- The chargers are fitted by an OZEV-authorised installer, using an approved model
You can't claim if
- The chargers are mainly for public or customer parking rather than staff and fleet
- You have already used your 40-socket allowance across your sites, including earlier WCS claims
- You are a private individual with no registered business at the address
- The installation was done before your application was approved
Working from home? You can still claim
This is the route most people miss. The home charger grant closed to homeowners with driveways in 2022, but if you run a business from home you can claim the Workplace Charging Scheme instead: £500 off a charger on your own driveway. Sole traders, company directors and partners all qualify if three conditions are met.

The EV infrastructure grant closed on 31 March 2026
The separate infrastructure grant for staff and fleets, which paid 75% of cabling and groundwork costs up to £15,000, is no longer accepting applications. Plenty of websites still advertise it, so if you were counting on it, we're sorry to be the ones to say. The Workplace Charging Scheme continues unchanged, and on larger sites we still design the cabling so you can add chargers later and claim £500 per socket each time.
How we claim the grant for you
We check at quote stage
Your quote form answers tell us which scheme applies to your home, business or school, and your fixed quote comes back with the grant shown. No research needed on your side.
You apply, we do the paperwork
The schemes need the application to come from you, with our dated quote attached. It is a short online form, we walk you through it, and once it is approved we book the install.
The grant comes off your invoice
After the install we submit the claim as your OZEV-authorised installer. The grant is paid to us, so you only ever pay the price with it already deducted.

Commercial EV chargingWorkplace Charging Scheme questions
I work from home. Can my business claim the Workplace Charging Scheme?
Often, yes. If your home is your primary place of business, the address is listed with Companies House or on your business (non-domestic) rates bill, and you have off-road parking, you can claim the £500 Workplace Charging Scheme grant for a charger on your own driveway. The charger must be a model approved for both residential and commercial use, and we pick a qualifying one with you.
Does my business need to own an electric vehicle to claim?
No. The Workplace Charging Scheme is for organisations with an existing or future need for staff or fleet charging. You do not have to own an EV at the time of the claim, though the chargers must be for that purpose rather than for the public.
Is the 40-socket limit per site?
No, it is per applicant across all your sites, and it includes any sockets you claimed under earlier WCS applications. You can make several applications until you reach 40 sockets in total, which at £500 each is £20,000 of grant.
Can charities and public sector organisations claim?
Yes. Registered charities, local authorities, NHS bodies and other public sector organisations qualify on the same terms as businesses: £500 per socket, up to 40 sockets. State-funded schools claim a higher rate of up to £2,000 per socket instead.
What happened to the EV infrastructure grant?
The EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets, which covered 75% of groundwork costs up to £15,000, closed to new applications on 31 March 2026. If you see it advertised elsewhere, the information is out of date. The Workplace Charging Scheme itself continues, and we design larger sites so the cabling is ready for chargers you add later.
Do I apply for the grant, or do you?
You apply for a voucher through the scheme, which is a short online form, and we guide you through it. Once the voucher is issued we install within its validity period, then redeem it as your authorised installer. Your quote shows the price with the grant already deducted, so there is nothing to claim back afterwards.
What if the scheme rules change?
The Workplace Charging Scheme is funded until 31 March 2027. The rate rose from £350 to £500 per socket on 1 April 2026, and the figures here were checked in September 2026. We confirm the current position for your site before anything is signed.
